Dois homens estavam a bordo de um avião monomotor que caiu no lago Utah na manhã de sexta-feira, embora as autoridades sintam que sua sobrevivência não “parece muito boa”.
Autoridades disseram que o avião, um Cirrus SR22, foi autorizado a pousar no aeroporto de Provo quando caiu na água aproximadamente às 10h.
Nenhum dos corpos foi recuperado dos destroços localizados perto do porto de barcos. Como o avião está parado na água a cerca de 2,5 metros de profundidade, as tripulações estão tendo problemas com os esforços de recuperação.
“Com o avião, por mais forte que tenha atingido a água, para as taxas de sobrevivência, não parece muito bom”, disse o sargento. Garrett Dutson do Gabinete do Xerife do Condado de Utah.
As identidades dos homens ainda não foram divulgadas.
Várias testemunhas viram a queda do avião e ligaram para o 911 para relatar o incidente.
O Corpo de Bombeiros e a Polícia de Provo, junto com a equipe de mergulho da Patrulha Rodoviária de Utah e o Gabinete de Busca e Resgate do Xerife de Utah Country estão no local.
O parque estadual está fechado e as pessoas estão sendo orientadas a deixar a área. Aqueles que planejam chegar ao parque no final do dia devem ficar longe. As autoridades acreditam que pode levar horas até que o parque seja reaberto.
