Naylor acertou o primeiro arremesso que viu de Ober, uma bola rápida do meio do prato, 445 pés para dentro das arquibancadas no centro-direito no segundo inning. No sétimo, Naylor viu dois changeups passarem, errou mais dois changeups, então acertou o quinto que viu, seu 31º home run da temporada.
“É difícil. Você quer arremessar em jogos importantes, seja na temporada regular ou na pós-temporada”, disse Ober, cujo time não marcou mais do que quatro corridas enquanto ele está em um jogo desde 4 de julho. “Dois arremessos solo estão OK. Sinto que ele foi o único cara contra quem eu realmente não executei.”

Deixando de lado o bombardeio de Naylor, Ober era o arremessador de grandes jogos que os Twins esperavam a noite toda. Ele permitiu apenas quatro rebatidas, nunca mais do que uma em um inning, e eliminou 12 Guardians, o recorde da carreira, sempre pelo menos um por inning.
Mas o ataque dos Twins, estrangulado pelos arremessos de Cleveland em todos os encontros — os Twins marcaram 36 corridas em 12 jogos, mais de quatro corridas apenas uma vez — ficou em silêncio mais uma vez.
Correa veio, no entanto, com bolas rasteiras no primeiro e quinto innings que trouxeram Willi Castro para casa todas as vezes. Castro duplicou seu caminho na primeira vez, e na quinta, ele foi atingido no pé por um slider de Tanner Bibee, quebrando o recorde do time de Chuck Knoblauch e fazendo de Castro o primeiro Minnesota Twin a ser atingido por 20 arremessos em uma temporada.
