Os últimos dados salariais sugerem que a nova pensão integral do estado deverá aumentar em £ 460 por ano a partir de abril.
Pelo acordo chamado “triple lock”, a pensão estatal aumenta a cada ano em 2,5%, na inflação ou no crescimento médio dos rendimentos — o que for maior.
Os números de ganhos dos três meses até julho são usados para o aumento anual e mostraram que o salário total aumentou a uma taxa anual de 4%, muito acima da inflação.
A notícia chega como o governo enfrenta uma reação negativa sobre sua decisão de cortar o pagamento de combustível de inverno para a maioria dos aposentados.
Mais de nove milhões de aposentados não terão mais direito a até £ 300 neste inverno depois que a chanceler, Rachel Reeves, anunciou a introdução de testes de recursos para os pagamentos.
A taxa de inflação — o ritmo no qual os preços estão aumentando — caiu constantemente nos últimos dois anos, embora tenha subido ligeiramente em julho para 2,2%.
Isto significa que o crescimento salarial é o valor que determinará o aumento da pensão as regras do bloqueio triplo.
Os últimos números do ONS implicar
- a nova pensão estatal de taxa fixa e completa (para aqueles que atingiram a idade de aposentadoria estatal após abril de 2016) deve aumentar para £ 230,05 por semana. Isso a levará para £ 11.962,60 por ano, um aumento de £ 460 em comparação com agora.
- a pensão básica completa do estado (para aqueles que atingiram a idade de aposentadoria do estado antes de abril de 2016) deve subir para £ 176,30 por semana. Isso a levará para £ 9.167,60 por ano, um aumento de £ 353,60 em comparação com agora.
No ano passado, a nova pensão estatal integral aumentou em £ 900. No entanto, nem todos os pensionistas recebem a pensão estatal integral.
O valor final será decidido pela Secretária de Trabalho e Pensões, Liz Kendall, na época do Orçamento e pode ser diferente se os números oficiais de ganhos forem revisados em um mês.
Steve Webb, ex-ministro das pensões e sócio da consultoria previdenciária LCP, disse que a nova pensão estatal precisaria aumentar em pouco mais de £ 250 apenas para acompanhar a inflação.
Como resultado, apenas cerca de £ 210 representam um aumento real, “e isso antes de considerar o imposto de renda que a maioria dos aposentados pagará com o aumento da pensão estatal”.
“Aqueles que perderem £ 200 ou £ 300 em pagamentos de combustível de inverno estarão, portanto, ainda pior em termos reais em abril do ano que vem”.
O aumento no salário total — que inclui bônus — medido pelo ONS mostrou uma desaceleração acentuada em relação ao valor do mês anterior, de 4,5%.
O ONS disse que isso ocorreu porque os bônus únicos pagos aos funcionários do NHS e do serviço público em junho e julho de 2023 não foram replicados neste ano.
O crescimento do salário regular, excluindo bônus, também desacelerou para 5,1%, embora ainda esteja subindo mais rápido que a inflação.
Analistas disseram que a desaceleração contínua nos lucros deve encorajar o Banco da Inglaterra a cortar as taxas de juros novamente no final deste ano.
No mês passado, o Banco cortou as taxas de 5,25% para 5%, marcando o primeiro corte desde o início da pandemia em março de 2020.
O órgão se reunirá novamente para discutir as taxas de juros na próxima semana, embora os analistas não esperem mais cortes nas taxas até o final do ano.
“Haverá alívio porque o mercado de trabalho, antes aquecido, está a caminho de esfriar”, disse Susannah Streeter, chefe de dinheiro e mercados da Hargreaves Lansdown.
“Com o crescimento salarial diminuindo novamente, isso consolidará as expectativas de que o Banco da Inglaterra realizará dois cortes nas taxas de juros até o final do ano.”
A taxa de desemprego no período de maio a julho caiu para 4,1%, a menor desde os três meses até janeiro de 2024.
O número de vagas de emprego entre junho e agosto caiu em 42.000, para 857.000.
Esse foi o menor número em mais de três anos, embora o total ainda esteja acima dos níveis pré-pandêmicos.
