LAKEWOOD, Ohio — O chefe dos bombeiros de Lakewood, Timothy Dunphy, anunciou na sexta-feira que estava se aposentando após mais de três décadas no departamento.
Dunphy foi nomeado chefe em 2019. Seu último dia será 6 de outubro, quando participará da Cerimônia Anual de Reconhecimento de Bombeiros da cidade, de acordo com um comunicado de imprensa da cidade na sexta-feira.
A prefeita Meghan George empossará o substituto de Dunphy, o atual chefe dos bombeiros Ryan Fairbanks, no evento.
Dunphy é um graduado da Lakewood High School. Ele usou um adesivo de um taco de hóquei do Lakewood Rangers em seu capacete de bombeiro, disse o release.
Ele começou sua carreira como bombeiro/paramédico na cidade em 1992.
Ele foi promovido a chefe dos bombeiros em 2011 e ocupou o cargo até se tornar chefe.
George elogiou a carreira de Dunphy e sua liderança, creditando-o por iniciar o Programa de Paramédicos de Bairro da cidade, restaurar o Programa Car Seat Fit Stop e se manter atualizado com as mais recentes tecnologias de combate a incêndios.
“Sua paixão e entusiasmo por Lakewood e seu povo farão falta”, disse George em um comunicado.
Dunphy elogiou Fairbanks, seu sucessor, como chefe dos bombeiros e futuro sucessor como chefe.
“Ele tem a experiência, a paixão e as habilidades de liderança para assumir perfeitamente a função e manter a cultura de excelência do nosso departamento”, disse Dunphy no comunicado.
