Familiares, amigos e colegas se reuniram com alguns líderes da cidade no sábado para dedicar um memorial à ex-repórter do Virginian-Pilot, Sierra Jenkins, em um parque de Norfolk.
O memorial, no Flatiron Park, na Granby Street, fica a poucos quarteirões de onde Jenkins, 25, foi baleado e morto.
Os líderes da cidade presentes incluíram o prefeito Kenny Alexander e a vereadora Danica Royster.

Sierra Jenkins, uma repórter do The Virginian-Pilot e Daily Press, foi uma das três pessoas baleadas e mortas do lado de fora do Chicho’s Pizza Backstage no centro de Norfolk quando a popular casa noturna fechou. No total, cinco pessoas foram baleadas após uma discussão iniciada na Granby Street.
Sierra havia comemorado seu aniversário apenas seis dias antes.
Jenkins foi repórter educacional do The Virginian-Pilot e do Daily Press. Antes de ingressar no The Pilot em dezembro de 2020, ela estagiou na Atlanta Magazine e na CNN, e trabalhou como assistente de notícias para a CNN Health. Jenkins estava particularmente interessada em questões sociais, sempre procurando por histórias que pudessem criar mudanças.
