Uma depressão tropical ou subtropical pode se formar já na semana que vem sobre Outer Banks e a costa da Carolina do Sul, de acordo com uma atualização do Centro Nacional de Furacões.
Os meteorologistas estão observando uma área não tropical de baixa pressão que pode se formar a algumas centenas de milhas da costa das Carolinas. O centro de furacões relatou que pode desenvolver “algumas características subtropicais ou tropicais” nos próximos dias, e no início da próxima semana “uma depressão subtropical ou tropical pode se formar” e se mover para noroeste pela Costa Leste em direção a Hampton Roads.
Atualmente, a chance de formação tropical nas próximas 48 horas é baixa, cerca de 10%. No entanto, a chance de formação nos próximos sete dias é de 40%, ou “média”, de acordo com o centro de furacões.
O Centro Nacional de Furacões também está monitorando a tempestade tropical Gordon, uma tempestade que está a cerca de 4.000 km da costa leste dos EUA e está se movendo para oeste-noroeste a 19 km/h.
