Na Baía de Cardigan, o golfinho-nariz-de-garrafa Tallie e seu recém-nascido Summer têm encantado os observadores da vida selvagem nos últimos dias.
Mas poucos sortudos o suficiente para avistar a vaca e seu bezerro saberão que ambos receberam o nome de um jovem de 22 anos. Observação do mar estagiário que morreu há pouco mais de quatro meses.
Tallie Brazier era morto em um acidente de carro na A5117 em Elton, Cheshire, em 15 de abril.
Sua mãe, Adele Nightingale, disse que ficaria extremamente tocada pelo gesto.
“Eu só queria que ela estivesse aqui para ver”, ela disse.
Tallie, que era de Oswestry, Shropshire, se formou na Universidade de Bangor no ano passado em Biologia Marinha com ênfase em Zoologia de Vertebrados.
Ela então passou o verão trabalhando como estagiária na Sea Watch em New Quay, Ceredigion, onde avistou e registrou o golfinho que viria a compartilhar seu nome.
“Frequentemente recebíamos videochamadas quando ela estava no barco e havia um grupo de golfinhos atrás dela e você ouvia gritos de alegria e alegria pelo que eles tinham visto”, disse Adele.
A Sea Watch é uma instituição de caridade nacional de proteção ambiental marinha que trabalha para melhorar a conservação de baleias, golfinhos e botos nos mares da Grã-Bretanha e da Irlanda.
Seu principal projeto em New Quay monitora os 200 golfinhos da Baía de Cardigan, a única população semi-residente de golfinhos-nariz-de-garrafa no País de Gales e a maior do Reino Unido.
Adele disse que o amor de Tallie pela vida marinha começou depois de assistir ao filme de animação Procurando Nemo, quando ela tinha dois ou três anos de idade.
Então, na escola primária, ela decidiu que queria trabalhar com golfinhos e começou a mergulhar aos oito anos. Ela eventualmente se tornou uma mergulhadora de resgate qualificada pela Padi, mergulhando por todo o mundo.
Este mês, ela deveria retornar a Bangor para começar seu mestrado em Ecologia de Predadores Marinhos.
“Ela tinha tanto para fazer e tanto para viver”, disse Adele.
No dia do acidente, Tallie e o namorado estavam saindo para almoçar e fazer compras.
“Foi uma segunda-feira muito comum”, disse Adele.
“Todas as vezes em que ela mergulhou 22 metros e fiquei preocupado com ela, mas naquele dia não me preocupei.”
Adele estava trabalhando em casa quando recebeu uma mensagem de texto do telefone de Tallie dizendo que ele havia se envolvido em uma colisão.
Incluía uma localização de pinos.
“Tentei ligar para ela imediatamente, a irmã dela estava aqui e nós duas estávamos tentando ligar para ela”, disse Adele.
“Liguei para o pai dela e ele disse que tinha [the text] também.”
Os três dirigiram 40 minutos até Elton enquanto tentavam desesperadamente falar com Tallie.
Mas, à medida que se aproximavam, perceberam que a estrada estava fechada e puderam ver ambulâncias e um helicóptero à frente.
Eles se apresentaram à polícia e receberam sinal azul para ir ao hospital.
“Foi no hospital, enquanto estávamos no quarto dos parentes, que o médico entrou e nos disse que Tallie não havia sobrevivido ao acidente”, disse Adele.
“Não me lembro de muita coisa. Minha filha mais nova diz que tudo o que ela consegue lembrar é que eu estava gritando.
“Lembro-me de dizer à enfermeira ‘deveria ser eu, eu tomaria o lugar dela’. Parecia muito surreal.”
Ela disse que eles foram levados para ver Tallie para se despedir.
“Eu ainda consigo ver isso, ainda consigo ver Tallie na mesa de ressuscitação. Então a polícia falou conosco e nos trouxe para casa”, disse Adele.
Meses depois, os eventos daquele dia ainda não parecem reais.
“Ainda acho que ela vai entrar. Não consigo aceitar que isso seja permanente, que ela se foi para sempre”, disse ela.
No funeral de Tallie, em vez de flores, a família pediu doações e arrecadou quase £ 3.000.
Então, o TNS FC em Oswestry, onde Tallie jogou como goleira quando era mais jovem, criou a Tallie Brazier Cup, que arrecadou mais de £ 6.000.
Eles doaram o dinheiro para a Sea Watch, que criou a Bolsa Tallie Brazier, que financiará um estagiário no ano que vem.
A Sea Watch então sugeriu dar o nome de Tallie a um golfinho.
“Se ela estivesse aqui, ficaria absolutamente maravilhada, ficaria muito tocada com isso”, disse Adele.
Então, na semana passada, Adele recebeu outra ligação da Sea Watch.
“Eles entraram em contato para dizer que o golfinho Tallie realmente teve um filhote… e nos perguntaram se gostaríamos de dar um nome ao filhote de Tallie”, disse ela.
Eles escolheram Summer, o nome do meio de Tallie.
O Sea Watch estima que Summer nasceu entre 16 e 19 de agosto, já que Tallie foi vista sem filhote na manhã do dia 16 e depois com filhote no dia 19.
“Estamos absolutamente honrados que a Sea Watch tenha tido essa ideia e que eles tenham feito isso por Tallie”, disse Adele.
“A demonstração de amor e respeito por Tallie da cidade, da universidade, da TNS e da Sea Watch significou muito para mim.
“Sempre tive orgulho das minhas duas meninas e ainda tenho orgulho da Tallie, ela está aumentando essa conscientização.”
Ela disse que conversar e estar cercada pela família, colegas de trabalho, amigos e amigos de Tallie foi fundamental para processar sua dor.
“A melhor coisa que alguém me diz quando os vejo é ‘não tenho palavras'”, disse Adele.
“Já ouvi muitos chavões e entendo que muitas vezes eles vêm de lugares com boas intenções, mas a melhor coisa que alguém pode dizer é ‘Não tenho ideia de como você está se sentindo’… Esta é realmente uma daquelas situações em que, a menos que você tenha passado por isso, você realmente não sabe e nem consegue imaginar.”
Agora, Adele diz que o foco é manter viva a memória de sua filha inteligente, engraçada, atenciosa e afetuosa.
“É muito importante para mim”, disse Adele.
“Ela era importante, ela era muito importante para todos nós e o mundo perdeu uma pessoa muito boa.”
