A cerimônia do Emmy Awards deste ano coloca a política japonesa do século XVII em confronto com a dinâmica familiar moderna, o drama da monarquia britânica e assassinatos em um prédio de apartamentos em Nova York e em uma cidade congelante no Alasca.
A 76ª edição do Primetime Emmy Awards, que será exibida ao vivo às 20h de domingo na ABC, celebra os programas e minisséries de destaque que foram ao ar de 1º de junho de 2023 a 31 de maio de 2024.
A rede FX lidera as indicações com “Shōgun” e “The Bear” ganhando impressionantes 25 e 23 indicações, respectivamente.
Mas não se trata apenas de quem deve vencer, mas também de quem deve ganhar. Abaixo estão as previsões para os maiores prêmios da noite.
Melhor Série de Comédia
Vai ganhar: Cara ou coroa — “Abbott Elementary”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” ou “The Bear”
“Abbott Elementary” e “Curb Your Enthusiasm” têm o benefício adicional de serem comédias genuínas, enquanto muitos argumentam que “The Bear” — com sua atmosfera tensa e temas de suicídio e depressão — é muito mais adequado para as categorias de drama.
Mas, apesar do programa ambientado em restaurante ter conquistado muitas vitórias de comédia na premiação do ano passado, e ser esperado que faça isso novamente, “Curb” pode levar o ouro, já que sua temporada mais recente foi a última.
Deveria ganhar: “Abbott Elementary” ou “Curb”
A terceira temporada de “Abbott Elementary” ostenta uma perfeita classificação de aprovação de 100% dos críticos no Rotten Tomatoes. E enquanto a temporada final de “Curb” não atinge as mesmas alturas dos anos anteriores, Larry David continua em sua melhor forma. O final — muito parecido com o de “Seinfeld” ao qual faz alusão — pode forçar a credulidade, mas em grande parte acerta o alvo.

O que falta em risos em “The Bear” é compensado na segunda temporada de White como Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto — uma pitada de tempero, uma pitada de vulnerabilidade e voilà. White levou para casa o Emmy de Melhor Ator em Comédia no ano passado e provavelmente conseguirá fazê-lo novamente.

Embora White realmente mereça a vitória, Larry David também merece. Aos 77 anos de idade, o comediante continua sendo um mestre da improvisação e de subverter o conforto do público, enquanto ainda arranca risadas como uma versão exagerada de seu eu mal-humorado.

Vai ganhar: Quinta Brunson ou Jean Smart
Brunson, a estrela de 34 anos e criadora de “Abbott Elementary”, continua perfeita como a professora da segunda série Janine Teagues no sucesso da ABC. Mas Jean Smart, aos 73 anos, está recebendo o tão esperado papel como a diva stand-up Deborah Vance em “Hacks”. O papel lhe rendeu duas vezes o Emmy de Melhor Atriz Principal em Comédia.

Melhor Série Dramática
Vai ganhar: “Shōgun” ou “A Coroa”
A temporada de calouro de “Shōgun” tem uma taxa de aprovação de 99% no Rotten Tomatoes e foi indicada mais do que qualquer outra série este ano. O épico que foi originalmente anunciado como uma série limitada, mas foi tão bem recebido que foi renovado por mais duas temporadas.
Embora “The Crown” tenha caído um pouco em desuso desde sua estreia em 2016, esta é a última oportunidade da saga da Netflix de vencer, o que pode ser decisivo.

Oldman e Sanada são mestres em sua arte e estão no auge de seu poder em “Slow Horses” e “Shōgun”, respectivamente.

Com o reinado da Rainha Elizabeth II chegando ao fim com a temporada final de “The Crown”, é uma aposta saudável que Staunton levará o ouro para casa nesta rodada.

A performance de Sawai em “Shōgun” atraiu espectadores e críticos, em parte por sua eficácia por meio de sua reserva. Ela poderia e provavelmente deveria levar o prêmio para casa.
Série limitada ou antologia de destaque
Vai ganhar: “Bebê Rena”
A comédia de humor negro semiautobiográfica de Richard Gadd lida com o cinza e dominou o zeitgeist muito depois de ter saído do Top 10 da Netflix. É quase impossível que ela não ganhe.
Deveria ganhar: “Ripley”
Outro sucesso da Netflix, esta versão liderada por Andrew Scott é a primeira adaptação para a TV do romance de Patricia Highsmith, “O Talentoso Sr. Ripley” — e muito elogiada.

Vai ganhar: André Scott
O aclamado ator tem sido elogiado há muito tempo por sua variedade de atuações, do vilão Moriarty em “Sherlock” ao sexy e piedoso Hot Priest em “Fleabag”. Ainda assim, ele raramente é premiado por seus talentos, mas “Ripley” pode finalmente ser sua vez.

Vai ganhar: Jodie Foster
A interpretação de Foster de uma policial irritadiça, mas protetora, no último episódio de “True Detective” é tão dinâmica quanto qualquer um de seus trabalhos anteriores, provando que ela não perdeu o ritmo em sua longa carreira.
Deveria ganhar: Templo Juno
O trabalho de Temple no volume mais recente de “Fargo” foi um tanto negligenciado na preparação para o Emmy, mas sua performance física e completamente cativante merece reconhecimento. Se ela ganhar, seria a primeira vez que “Fargo” ganharia um prêmio de atuação, apesar de muitas de suas estrelas terem sido indicadas.
