Embora os viciados em viagens provavelmente não precisem de outro motivo para justificar seu desejo de viajar, parece que há novas pesquisas mostrando que ser um viajante global pode ser uma ótima maneira de prevenir o envelhecimento prematuro.
Um estudo publicado pelo Science Daily mostra que viagens de lazer podem ajudar a aliviar o estresse crônico, reduzir a superativação do sistema imunológico e até mesmo promover o funcionamento saudável do sistema de autodefesa do corpo.
“Esqueça os cremes noturnos com retinol, pesquisadores da Universidade Edith Cowan acreditam que viajar pode ser a melhor maneira de desafiar o envelhecimento prematuro”, diz a publicação.
O Science Daily prossegue salientando que, pela primeira vez, “um estudo interdisciplinar aplicou a teoria da entropia ao turismo, descobrindo que as viagens podem trazer benefícios positivos para a saúde, incluindo o abrandamento dos sinais de envelhecimento”.
Por que demoraram tanto para confirmar o que todos sabemos?
Para quem não está familiarizado com o termo entropia, é classificado como a tendência geral do universo em direção à morte e à desordem, diz o Science Daily.
E parece que a investigação sobre entropia sugere que o turismo pode desencadear mudanças de entropia, incluindo experiências de viagem positivas que mitigam a entropia e melhoram a saúde.
Por outro lado, experiências negativas podem contribuir para o aumento da entropia e comprometer a saúde, segundo o estudo.
“O envelhecimento, como processo, é irreversível. Embora não possa ser interrompido, pode ser desacelerado”, diz Fangli Hu, candidata a doutorado na Universidade Edith Cowan e líder do estudo.
Hu também destacou que experiências de viagem positivas podem potencialmente melhorar o bem-estar físico e mental através da exposição a novos ambientes, do envolvimento em atividades físicas e da interação social. E como um bônus adicional, as viagens podem promover emoções positivas.
“O turismo não é apenas lazer e recreação. Também poderia contribuir para a saúde física e mental das pessoas”, acrescentou Hu.
Viajar como terapia antienvelhecimento
Vamos nos aprofundar nas boas notícias do estudo.
Parece que a terapia de viagem pode realmente servir como uma “intervenção de saúde inovadora quando vista através de lentes de entropia”, diz Hu.
“Como um aspecto importante do ambiente, as experiências positivas de viagem podem ajudar o corpo a manter um estado de baixa entropia, modulando os seus quatro sistemas principais”, diz ela.
Isto porque o turismo normalmente expõe os viajantes a novos ambientes e, se tudo correr bem, também a atividades relaxantes.
Estas configurações, ao que parece, podem estimular respostas ao stress e elevar as taxas metabólicas, influenciando positivamente as atividades metabólicas e as capacidades de auto-organização do corpo. Essas coisas também podem desencadear uma resposta adaptativa do sistema imunológico.
Tudo isto “melhora a capacidade do corpo de perceber e se defender contra ameaças externas”, explicou Hu.
“Simplificando, o sistema de autodefesa torna-se mais resiliente. Hormônios que conduzem à reparação e regeneração dos tecidos podem ser liberados e promover o funcionamento do sistema de autocura”, diz Hu.
Algumas das formas mais saudáveis de viajar incluem atividades físicas como caminhadas, escaladas, caminhadas e ciclismo.
Esse esforço físico pode aumentar o metabolismo, o gasto de energia e a transformação material – e tudo isso é bom para você.
“A participação nestas atividades poderia melhorar a função imunitária e as capacidades de autodefesa do corpo, reforçando a sua resistência a riscos externos”, continuou Hu. “O exercício físico também pode melhorar a circulação sanguínea, acelerar o transporte de nutrientes e ajudar na eliminação de resíduos para manter coletivamente um sistema ativo de autocura. “
O exercício moderado também é benéfico para os ossos, músculos e articulações, além de apoiar o sistema antidesgaste do corpo.
Claro, nem tudo são arco-íris, borboletas e antienvelhecimento quando se viaja. Todos nós tivemos um ou dois contratempos em viagens. E, nesses casos, o seu corpo pode não estar obtendo todos os benefícios anti-envelhecimento revelados pelo estudo de Hu.
A investigação apontou que os turistas podem enfrentar desafios como doenças infecciosas, acidentes, lesões, violência, questões de segurança hídrica e alimentar e preocupações relacionadas com o envolvimento turístico inadequado.
“Por outro lado, o turismo pode envolver experiências negativas que potencialmente levam a problemas de saúde, paralelamente ao processo de promoção do aumento da entropia”, disse Hu. “Um exemplo proeminente é a crise de saúde pública da COVID-19.”
Mas, no geral, parece que há ainda mais razões para viajar pelo mundo quando possível.
