O violento ataque de um homem de 66 anos no bairro Butcher’s Hill está gerando indignação.
O roubo e o ataque foram capturados em vídeo de vigilância próximo e mostram um dos suspeitos chutando a cabeça da vítima, que já estava nocauteada.
A polícia de Baltimore prendeu um jovem de 15 e um de 18 minutos após o ataque.
O jovem de 15 anos foi levado para o centro de detenção juvenil, mas liberado para seu tutor pouco tempo depois.
Os líderes comunitários e municipais estão falando abertamente sobre suas frustrações com o Departamento de Serviços Juvenis.
Arch McKown mora na vizinhança do ataque.
“Gostaria que o secretário Schiraldi renunciasse. Gostaria que ele renunciasse. Não acho que ele esteja apto para esse papel”, disse McKown.
Em novembro passado, McKown correu para ajudar uma mulher que estava sendo atacada por um garoto de 12 e 14 anos, durante um assalto.
Esses jovens foram liberados para seus responsáveis após serem presos.
Na semana passada, eles foram condenados apenas a liberdade condicional.
O vereador Zeke Cohen compartilhando sua frustração com o Departamento de Serviços Juvenis.
“É inaceitável que deixem aquela criança sair tão rapidamente. Minha mensagem para a secretária e para toda a operação dentro do departamento de serviços juvenis é: vocês precisam se recompor”, disse Cohen.
O jovem de 18 anos está sendo indiciado por tentativa de homicídio, segundo o Ministério Público do Estado.
Ele foi preso no condado de Baltimore em julho por roubar um veículo.
