Prezado Érico: Com cinco anos de diferença, meus dois filhos adultos morreram de doença e acidente. Já se passaram três anos desde a segunda perda e a dor ainda é dura. Mas estou recebendo aconselhamento.
Eu era uma jovem mãe, então ainda tenho anos para ser ativa. Estou encontrando novas maneiras de servir à minha comunidade, especialmente com crianças carentes.
Todas as minhas amigas têm filhos adultos que estão entrando na era da vida que meus filhos estavam vivenciando quando morreram. É muito difícil conviver com essas mulheres porque elas falam dos filhos e até reclamam deles. É muito estressante porque tenho que agir como se estivesse interessado. Eu não sou.
Quero deixar esses amigos para trás e focar na minha nova vida. Estou entendendo errado? Meu conselheiro diz que sim e que quero abandoná-la também.

Querida mãe: Leve isso com cautela: seu conselheiro conhece você e tem um relacionamento com você, enquanto eu sou um estranho que está torcendo por você e cujo coração dói por você. Mas acho que um pouco de distância desses amigos seria útil, especialmente se você estiver construindo novos relacionamentos com amigos que possam se conectar melhor com onde você está agora e para onde está indo.
Toda amizade passa por ciclos. Você e seus amigos estão em diferentes fases da vida agora. Você não precisa fingir estar onde eles estão simplesmente para se dar bem. Espero que eles tenham estado ao seu lado enquanto você superava essa dor avassaladora. Mas pela sua carta fica claro que você quer mais. Também não há problema em, com gratidão e amor, dizer que isso não funciona mais para mim.
Talvez em vez de desistir, faça uma pausa. Pode acabar sendo permanente ou você pode descobrir que o tempo muda todos os envolvidos.
Minha maior preocupação – e talvez algo para discutir com seu conselheiro – é que, ao sair do seu grupo de amigos, você estará se isolando. Espero que você consiga fazer conexões com colegas por meio de grupos de voluntariado ou de apoio ao luto. Você está fazendo um trabalho muito difícil e importante para curar e dar sentido à sua vida. Você deve estar orgulhoso de si mesmo e ter pessoas ao seu redor que apoiam isso. Por favor, não vá sozinho aqui.
