Promotores federais disseram em um processo judicial na segunda-feira que Michele Fiore não foi realmente rotulada como terrorista doméstica pelo governo, como seu advogado alegou na semana passada.
Fiore, 53, de Pahrump, foi indiciada por um grande júri federal em julho por acusações de fraude eletrônica e conspiração. Os promotores a acusaram de arrecadar dezenas de milhares de dólares para uma estátua de um policial morto do Departamento de Polícia Metropolitana, Alyn Beck, mas gastando tudo com ela mesma e com o casamento de sua filha.
Ela se declarou inocente e seu julgamento está marcado para começar em 24 de setembro.
Na semana passada, o advogado de Fiore, Michael Sanft, disse em documentos judiciais que o governo a rotulou como terrorista doméstica, possivelmente por seu apoio à família Bundy em seu conflito com o governo federal.
Mas essas alegações “baseiam-se em uma interpretação errada de dois documentos do FBI e são irrelevantes para as acusações de fraude eletrônica que o réu enfrenta”, disseram os promotores em uma resposta apresentada na segunda-feira.
Não foi possível contatar Sanft e Fiore imediatamente para comentar.
