Pode faltar alguns dias para o verão, mas a temporada de esportes de inverno está se aproximando rapidamente em Utah — já que a primeira neve da temporada chegou às estações de esqui nos cânions Cottonwood.
“Primeira neve da temporada”, postou a Alta Ski Area na terça-feira X, junto com fotos de terrenos salpicados de neve e céus enevoados.
Snowbird, vizinho de Alta em Little Cottonwood Canyon, mostrou fãs em sua conta do Instagram terça-feira ativamente caindo neve grudada em um teleférico em movimento. Ambos Resort de montanha da solidão e Brighton Resortem Big Cottonwood Canyon, postou vídeos curtos na terça-feira no X de neve caindo em seus locais.
Do outro lado das Montanhas Wasatch, Deer Valley e Jupiter Peak no Park City Mountain Resort também relataram queda de neve na terça-feira. E no Snowbasin Resort, no Condado de Weber, uma postagem perguntou: “Uma leve camada de neve lá em cima, podemos contar?”
Neve caiu no norte de Utah em áreas a 9.000 pés ou mais, de acordo com Christine Kruse, meteorologista chefe do Serviço Nacional de Meteorologia de Salt Lake City. No ano passado, Alta relatou sua primeira queda de neve em 2 de outubro.
“Às vezes temos a nossa primeira neve… mesmo [in] Agosto”, disse Kruse. “Então não é incomum ver neve acumulada nessas elevações realmente altas em setembro.”
No Vale do Lago Salgado, surtos de chuva e alertas de tempestades severas atingiram boa parte da terça-feira, com temperaturas atingindo mínimas de 50 graus. Espera-se que as chuvas continuem durante a tarde e diminuam até a meia-noite.
É muito cedo para prever a temporada de inverno para o vale, disse Kruse, mas conforme o sistema de clima frio continua em Utah, as temperaturas cairão abaixo do normal. A média para esta época do ano é de 81 graus; máximas na casa dos 70 graus são previstas para o resto desta semana. No ano passado, a primeira nevasca acumulada no vale chegou em 23 de novembro — que foi o Dia de Ação de Graças.
“Porque vimos a neve hoje, isso tem [no] valor preditivo para o caminho que o inverno vai seguir”, disse Kruse. “Está um pouco longe demais para realmente ter algum sinal sobre o que podemos esperar para este inverno.”
