Espera-se que o cruzamento 215 Beltway-Summerlin Parkway passe por uma grande reforma depois que uma empresa de pavimentação local fechou um contrato de US$ 130 milhões para o projeto.
Os comissários do Condado de Clark aprovaram o contrato por unanimidade na terça-feira, com a oferta de US$ 130 milhões da Las Vegas Paving ficando muito abaixo da oferta de quase US$ 205 milhões da Fisher Sand and Gravel Company. O contrato, aprovado como parte da pauta de consentimento, não foi discutido durante a reunião.
O projeto inclui a construção de quatro novas pontes rodoviárias, a ampliação da ponte existente Summerlin Parkway sobre a 215 e a adição de três pontes de trilha.
Outros trabalhos vinculados ao projeto incluem a adição de novos muros de contenção; instalações de drenagem pluvial; meios-fios, sarjetas e calçadas; iluminação pública; modificações em semáforos; e modificações e realocações de serviços públicos.
No início deste ano, o Condado de Clark disse ao Review-Journal que a construção começaria este ano. A construção do projeto deve levar cerca de dois anos para ser concluída.
Embora a expectativa inicial fosse que as obras começassem no início deste ano, o processo de concepção do projeto demorou mais do que o esperado e, durante as fases de planejamento, a entidade responsável pela manutenção da Summerlin Parkway foi transferida da cidade de Las Vegas para o Departamento de Transporte de Nevada.
A porta-voz do NDOT, Kelsey McFarland, em um e-mail, chamou o projeto de intercâmbio de “um desenvolvimento emocionante e vital para a região, com o objetivo de melhorar significativamente o fluxo de tráfego e a segurança em uma área que vê uma quantidade significativa de tráfego de passageiros e recreação”.
“Embora o NDOT não esteja diretamente envolvido na construção do projeto de intercâmbio 215 Beltway/Summerlin Parkway, reconhecemos seu potencial para melhorar o acesso para moradores nas áreas vizinhas”, afirmou seu e-mail. Ao melhorar a conexão entre a 215 e a Summerlin Parkway, o projeto pode simplificar o acesso ao parque, fornecendo aos motoristas rotas mais diretas, acrescentou McFarland.
O NDOT concluiu no ano passado um projeto de sete meses de duração na Summerlin Parkway, entre a 215 e a Buffalo Drive. Esse projeto incluiu repavimentação e limpeza do canteiro central ao longo do trecho da parkway.
“O NDOT continua comprometido em garantir que o Summerlin Parkway seja bem conservado e capaz de suportar essas melhorias de infraestrutura, trabalhando em estreita colaboração com o Condado de Clark na coordenação necessária para o projeto”, disse McFarland. “Estamos ansiosos para apoiar o acesso da comunidade a esta importante rodovia conforme a construção avança.”
