A estrela do YouTube MrBeast e a Amazon estão sendo processadas por participantes de um próximo game show por alegações de assédio sexual e outros abusos.
O processo alega que vários participantes do próximo reality show “Beast Games” foram severamente maltratados.
“Vários concorrentes [ended] hospitalizados, enquanto outros relataram sofrer complicações físicas e mentais ao serem submetidos a maus-tratos crônicos, degradação e, para as concorrentes, condições de trabalho hostis”, uma declaração divulgada pelos advogados dos cinco demandantes não identificados.
Os demandantes disseram que eram alimentados “esporadicamente e escassamente” e não tinham “acesso adequado a produtos de higiene ou cuidados médicos”.
Eles disseram que a produção também não pagou salários mínimos ou horas extras, apesar de um orçamento relatado de US$ 100 milhões. Eles também alegam que a produção forneceu informações falsas ao governo de Nevada para receber créditos fiscais para filmar no estado.
Os demandantes entraram com uma ação coletiva contra o YouTuber, o estúdio Amazon MGM e as produtoras relacionadas na segunda-feira no Tribunal Superior de Los Angeles.
Uma cópia do processo obtida pela Variety omitiu detalhes específicos do suposto assédio sexual, mas indicou que ele aconteceu “durante toda a produção”.
“As concorrentes femininas sofreram particularmente e coletivamente como resultado das ações dos Réus”, afirma a queixa. “O ambiente de trabalho de ‘Beast Games’ sistematicamente fomentou uma cultura de misoginia e sexismo, onde a Equipe de Produção não fez nada.”
MrBeast, cujo nome verdadeiro é Jimmy Donaldson, tem mais de 316 milhões de seguidores no YouTube, que apresenta vídeos dele e de outros completando várias acrobacias, desafios de resistência e filantropia. A próxima série Prime — que Donaldson apresentará, mas atualmente não tem uma data de lançamento — ostenta um prêmio de US$ 5 milhões — supostamente o maior prêmio da história do game show — para um de seus 1.000 competidores.
