BOISE — Maddux Madsen lançou três passes para touchdown e correu para outra pontuação na noite de sábado para ajudar o Boise State a derrotar o Portland State por 56 a 14.
Dylan Riley teve 96 jardas correndo e dois touchdowns e Cameron Camper teve recepções de TD de 18 jardas no final do segundo quarto e 52 jardas para abrir o placar no terceiro que deu ao Boise State uma vantagem de 28 pontos. Riley marcou em uma corrida de 2 jardas que fez 42-7 indo para o quarto quarto.
Boise State (2-1) terminou com 609 jardas totais e 27 primeiras descidas. Os Broncos tiveram 342 jardas correndo e cinco touchdowns em 38 corridas.
O running back do Broncos, Ashton Jeanty, candidato ao Heisman, teve 11 corridas para 127 jardas, incluindo uma corrida de 68 jardas no final do primeiro quarto.
O jogo marcou o retorno à ação dos Vikings (0-3), que foram forçados a cancelar o jogo de 14 de setembro contra South Dakota por causa de um surto de coqueluche no time dos Vikings. O Portland State disse no início da semana que os jogadores que podem ter sido expostos à doença foram obrigados a tomar um regime de cinco dias de antibióticos para viajar e jogar contra o Boise State.
