Às vezes lidando com gelo e montes de neve de 1,80 m, mais equipes de busca continuaram na quarta-feira a procurar por um nativo de Winona que desapareceu na semana passada durante uma caminhada até uma parte remota e acidentada do Parque Nacional de Yellowstone, em Wyoming.
Austin King, 22, foi ouvido pela última vez em 17 de setembro durante uma viagem de backcountry para Eagle Peak, o ponto mais alto do parque nacional. King estava em um passeio de sete dias quando ligou para amigos e familiares do cume do pico em 17 de setembro e relatou clima incluindo neblina, granizo e ventos fortes, de acordo com o National Park Service (NPS).
King, um funcionário da concessão do parque, não compareceu para o embarque de barco planejado perto do braço sudeste do Lago Yellowstone em 20 de setembro.
Equipes de resgate dos parques nacionais de Yellowstone e Grand Teton e dos condados de Teton e Park têm feito buscas no solo e no ar desde sábado nas áreas montanhosas ao redor de Eagle Peak, no canto sudeste do parque e a oeste de Cody, Wyoming. Eles encontraram o acampamento e os pertences pessoais de King naquela noite.

Em uma atualização na terça-feira à noite, o NPS detalhou em um comunicado que mais recursos foram investidos na busca, com 85 pessoas, dois helicópteros, uma equipe K9 e “aeronaves não tripuladas” procurando por King.
“As equipes continuarão as buscas pelos próximos dias, à medida que as condições continuam a melhorar devido às previsões climáticas favoráveis”, acrescentou o serviço.

As autoridades estão buscando a ajuda do público e devem ligar para o Centro de Comunicações Interagências de Yellowstone no número 307-344-2643 para fornecer qualquer informação sobre o paradeiro de King.
King se identifica como morador de West Yellowstone, Montana, em seu perfil no Facebook, e ex-aluno da Cotter High School em Winona.
