Um cão morreu por inalação de fumaça após um incêndio em uma casa perto da East Quincy Avenue e da South Reservoir Road em Aurora na terça-feira à noite.
Os bombeiros responderam por volta das 17h30 depois que um vizinho relatou fumaça saindo da casa, de acordo com autoridades do Corpo de Bombeiros de Aurora.
A fumaça saiu pela porta da frente quando os bombeiros entraram na casa e encontraram um incêndio na cozinha. Não havia ninguém em casa, mas os bombeiros encontraram um cachorro perto da cozinha.
Os bombeiros tentaram fazer RCP no cachorro, mas não conseguiram reanimá-lo, disseram os bombeiros em um comunicado à imprensa. Um gato também foi resgatado da casa e não parecia estar ferido. Os investigadores determinaram que o incêndio foi acidental.
Três pessoas ficaram desabrigadas pelo incêndio e estão recebendo assistência da Cruz Vermelha Americana.
