CLEVELAND, Ohio – O Rio Cuyahoga e o Parque Rivergate estavam muito movimentados no sábado com remadores competindo na 28ª Regata Head of the Cuyahoga.
A Cleveland Rowing Foundation sediou o maior evento de remo de um único dia do país, recebendo clubes de 14 estados, além de uma equipe internacional do México.
Os remadores partiam das docas da Cleveland Rowing Foundation e Merwin’s Wharf, remando 5.000 metros rio acima até a linha de partida perto das siderúrgicas e, então, davam meia-volta para a corrida de volta. As corridas eram conduzidas em um formato de contra-relógio, com as equipes partindo uma de cada vez e correndo contra o relógio.
“É muito emocionante receber 61 clubes de remo e 2.000 remadores na Regata Head of the Cuyahoga deste ano”, disse Sue Tyler, presidente da Cleveland Rowing Foundation.
“A combinação de curvas desafiadoras e vistas deslumbrantes de Cleveland tornou a experiência única, tanto para competidores quanto para espectadores”, acrescentou Tyler. “Também foi uma ótima oportunidade de mostrar nossa cidade e rio e impulsionar nossa economia em cerca de US$ 1,3 milhão em gastos diretos.”
Remadores de todas as idades e níveis de experiência participaram do evento, com competidores com idades entre 13 e mais de 80 anos.
