LOS ÁNGELES (AP) – Los Padres de San Diego garantiram uma passagem pós-temporada em Marte, convertendo uma tripla matanza para preservar uma vitória de 4 a 2 sobre os Dodgers de Los Ángeles, líderes da Divisão Oeste da Liga Nacional.
Um ano depois de ausentar-se da pós-temporada, o dominicano Manny Machado e os Padres registraram seu boleto oitavo dos playoffs na história da franquia. Tienen garantido menos um boleto de comodín, quando restam cinco duelos da temporada regular.
San Diego é um dos jogos de derrota de Los Angeles, com um par de duelos restantes em sua série no Dodger Stadium. Busca seu primeiro título divisionário desde 2006 e tem vendas no critério de desempate, com uma derrota de 8-3 em duelos diretos contra os Dodgers nesta temporada.
Los Padres ganharam três carreiras no noveno inning, quando o porto-riquenho Kiké Hernández bateu um sencillo produtor que aproveitou a pizarra em 4-2 e colocou corredores na primeira e segunda.
O venezolano Miguel Rojas conectou uma roleta para Machado, que pisó la antesala antes de ir a segunda ya primera para poner fin al encuentro.
