A 76ª edição do Primetime Emmy Awards começou com a dupla pai e filho Eugene e Dan Levy subindo ao palco no topo da maior noite da TV, conquistando instantaneamente o público com piadas autoinfligidas sobre trabalhar em família.
“Esta é, na verdade, a primeira vez que tivemos a oportunidade de trabalhar juntos desde que nosso show “Schitt’s Creek” acabou, a menos que você conte a vez em que tentou convencer Ryan Murphy a nos escalar como os irmãos Menendez”, disse Dan. “Bem, eles não eram gêmeos”, brincou Eugene.
O segmento de abertura começou com uma rodada de aplausos para a dupla, que é a primeira dupla pai e filho a sediar a cerimônia, enquanto eles zombavam da falta de experiência em sediar qualquer coisa.
“Não somos comediantes de stand-up”, Eugene admitiu. “Na verdade, eu nem nos chamaria de apresentadores. Somos mais como atores agindo como apresentadores, o que é uma grande aposta para nós”, Dan acrescentou.
Ao fazer um resumo dos favoritos da noite, incluindo “Shogun”, “The Bear” e “Baby Reindeer”, Dan chamou a série de “estranhamente identificável” ao compartilhar mensagens que recebeu de seu pai antes da noite do Emmy. “O programa é assustador e estranhamente identificável para todos aqueles cujos pais ainda não dominam a arte de enviar mensagens de texto”, disse Dan.
O texto exibido na tela dizia: “Vamos apresentar o Emmy. Colin Ferell vai ficar com ela. Você ainda tem uma quedinha?” Enquanto a plateia explode em gargalhadas, Eugene responde: “Não pensei que isso fosse se tornar público”.
Dan então continua compartilhando outro texto que diz: “waltr okeef Jok – 2 mean?”
Os Levys também brincaram sobre “The Bear” e sua falta de humor, apesar de estar na categoria de comédia.
“Eu sei que alguns de vocês esperam que façamos uma piada sobre se “O Urso” é realmente uma comédia, mas no verdadeiro espírito de “O Urso”, não faremos nenhuma piada.”
Eugene e Dan Levy não são estranhos ao prestigioso evento de Hollywood, já que sua comédia canadense, “Schitt’s Creek”, arrebatou as categorias de comédia em 2020.
Antes da cerimônia, o produtor do Emmy, Jesse Collins, disse ao “Good Morning America” que ter a dupla como anfitriões da noite foi uma “vitória”.
“Quando falamos com eles no Zoom inicial, você viu como eles iam e voltavam”, disse Collins. E você dizia, ‘isso é uma vitória’.”
