“Para ter tantos baserunners, fizemos algo certo. Mas claramente falta alguma coisa quando colocamos os caras na base”, disse Baldelli. “Estamos realmente lutando. Não posso dizer exatamente por quê.”
Os Twins terminaram 18-28 nesta temporada contra times da Liga Nacional, e agora devem vencer os Orioles em casa, enquanto os Royals fazem 0 a 3 em Atlanta ou os Tigers são derrotados em casa pelos White Sox. Esses cenários improváveis permitiriam aos Twins reivindicar uma vaga na pós-temporada pela quarta vez nos seis anos de mandato de Baldelli, e ele não desistiu.
“Eu sei como jogamos. Mas não estamos eliminados agora. E não tenho a ideia de que estamos fora disso”, disse Baldelli. “Minha intenção é vencer, começando amanhã com Pablo [López] lá fora, fazendo um grande jogo para nós. Ganhe nossos jogos e veja o que acontece.”
