O popular jogo de cartas para adultos Cards Against Humanity entrou com uma ação judicial contra a SpaceX de Elon Musk por supostamente invadir um terreno de propriedade do jogo.
A Cards Against Humanity realizou várias ações públicas icônicas desde a criação do jogo, incluindo a produção temporária de batatas fritas, a compra de uma ilha na costa do Maine para uso público e o nome dela Havaí 2, e em uma Black Friday até vendeu um carro por US$ 97.
Em 2017, a empresa continuou suas artimanhas comprando uma área de terra na fronteira entre o México e os Estados Unidos como uma tentativa explícita de impedir ou atrasar a criação do “muro muito estúpido do bilionário racista Donald Trump”, de acordo com a empresa.
A compra foi financiada coletivamente por fãs, mais especificamente 150.000 pessoas pagaram US$ 15 à Cards Against Humanity para comprar o terreno.
“Infelizmente, um bilionário ainda mais rico e racista — Elon Musk — surgiu por trás de nós e nos [filled] aquela terra com cascalho, tratores e lixo espacial”, escreveu a Cards Against Humanity em um site criado para o processo, chamado cahsuesmusk.com.
De acordo com a empresa, a SpaceX decidiu usar o terreno já ocupado (mas totalmente vago) para armazenar materiais para um projeto de construção próximo.
“Depois que o pegamos, a SpaceX nos deu um ultimato de 12 horas para aceitar uma oferta baixa por menos da metade do valor de nossa terra”, dizia o site. “Nos vemos no tribunal.”
A empresa está firme em sua posição e publicou o documento completo do processo judicial para que o público possa ver no site.
O processo não é apenas uma tentativa de recuperar a terra, como a empresa disse que fez à nossa reputação”, disse a CAH”].
Embora recuperar a terra seja certamente importante para a empresa, ela disse estar mais preocupada com sua “reputação de longa data como uma empresa que faz promessas absurdas e realmente as cumpre”.
O processo da Cards Against Humanity contra a SpaceX é de US$ 150 milhões, que seriam redistribuídos aos 150.000 investidores originais a US$ 100 cada. No site, a Cards Against Humanity até incentiva os investidores a postar sobre o processo e marcar @elonmusk com a tag #ElonOwesMe100Bucks.
Na parte inferior do site, Cards Against Humanity disse: “Também aceitaremos o Twitter.com como compensação”.
