FORT COLLINS — Certamente, o Kansas State não estava supostamente oferecendo ao quarterback da CSU Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi US$ 600.000 em dinheiro NIL apenas para entregá-lo e sair do caminho.

“(Nós) precisamos envolver nossos playmakers, precisamos fazer isso ofensivamente”, Norvell continuou. “E nós temos talento. Podemos pontuar. E precisamos responder a isso.”

“Não, estou lhe dizendo que acho que tivemos confrontos difíceis, e não acho que nos demos muito bem”, respondeu Norvell. “E eu estava tentando minimizar isso — e é isso que os treinadores principais fazem.”
Felizmente, há todo tipo de tempo restante, nove jogos, com os quais forjar uma nova narrativa. O Mountain West parece pesado no topo, e a CSU não jogará com dois dos três programas — UNLV e Boise State, sendo Fresno State o outro — esperados para disputar a coroa da liga.
Mais esperança: Os Rams já enfrentaram os dois elencos mais talentosos que verão o ano todo, o nº 1 Texas e o CU. Embora se o objetivo fosse guardar algumas flechas na aljava para o jogo da liga, depois do último sábado, pode ser bom para Norvell começar a disparar algumas.
“Ainda temos muita temporada pela frente”, disse o treinador, “e temos todos os objetivos que queremos alcançar em nossa conferência e nos nove jogos restantes”.

Não é irracional imaginar se a administração do CSU, depois daquele fedorento do CU, apoiará todo mundo se — se — os Rams estão com 2-5, com três jogos em casa vencíveis (Novo México, Wyoming, Utah State) restantes na agenda.
Norvell sabe a pontuação. Ele tem um presidente e um diretor atlético que não o contratou, e o primeiro não está brincando.

“Sinto pressão desde o dia em que comecei a ser treinador”, disse Norvell. “Quer dizer, isso é só parte disso.”
