Kepler espera jogar pelo menos mais cinco anos, disse ele, mas admite que pensou que sua lesão no quadril poderia encerrar sua carreira nos Twins.
“Eu realmente não descomprimi e olhei para trás em cada momento como um gêmeo, mas estou realmente grato e isso não está realmente incomodando [me] muito na minha saída”, ele disse. “Obviamente, eu quero sair com uma nota mais alta, mas quero dizer, adicione os anos da liga menor a isso, 15 anos da minha vida — metade da minha vida como um Twin — eu não acho que eu poderia ter feito muito mais como um garoto de Berlim.”

Depois de enfrentar os rebatedores — Kepler, Michael Helman e Austin Martin — pela primeira vez desde que entrou para a lista de lesionados em julho, ele planeja lançar novamente na quinta-feira.
“Espero que tudo isso corra bem, então é provável que eu me sente com você Rocco [Baldelli] e a equipe para ver onde estamos com as classificações”, disse Paddack. “Se estivermos dentro, nós conquistamos [during] a série de Baltimore, então provavelmente esperaremos até a primeira série nos playoffs. Se estivermos em um jogo [back]ou se estiver empatado e precisarmos de uma vitória no domingo, provavelmente todos os jogadores estarão no convés e tomarão essa decisão quando chegar a hora.”
