LOS ANGELES, Califórnia — Evan Suttell, nativo de Lakewood, se recuperou de um começo lento na segunda-feira, mas falhou na defesa de seu “Jeopardy!”
Suttell, um graduado de 2017 da Lakewood High School que atualmente é um assistente de programa sem fins lucrativos na National Environmental Health Association em Denver, Colorado, entrou no primeiro intervalo comercial com $ 200 no vermelho. No entanto, no final da primeira rodada, ele tinha $ 1.200, atrás dos desafiantes Aiden Orzech, um professor de Thornhill, Ontário, Canadá ($ 2.800) e Sam Watson, um vendedor de software de farmácia de Westwood, Kansas ($ 2.400).
Suttell continuou a aumentar seu total no Double Jeopardy, mas não encontrou nenhuma das pistas do Daily Double, dificultando a redução da vantagem de Orzech de US$ 15.600 no Final Jeopardy!
Com a categoria História, Suttell apostou todo o seu total de $ 9.600. Ele respondeu corretamente à pista de “Um relatório de 1976 iniciado pelo Almirante Rickover descobriu que foi uma explosão interna, não externa, que causou a destruição disto”, com a pergunta sendo “O que é o Maine?”
No entanto, Orzech também teve a resposta correta e apostou $ 11.999, terminando com um total de $ 27.599. Watson respondeu incorretamente com “What is the Challenger” e terminou com $ 0.
Suttell, que ganhou $ 20.200 na edição de sexta-feira, 13 de setembro de 2024, do programa, é um veterano em jogos de perguntas e respostas. Ele foi membro da equipe do Desafio Acadêmico da Lakewood High School em 2017, que ganhou o título no programa de perguntas e respostas do WEWS Channel 5. Ele também foi membro de equipes de perguntas e respostas na Michigan State University, onde obteve o diploma de bacharel em relações e assuntos internacionais, e na University of Denver, onde obteve o título de mestre em euestudos internacionais/globais.
