Dylan Beavers marcou o empate na sexta entrada de sua estreia na Triple-A e JD Davis acertou um single RBI decisivo na parte inferior da sétima entrada, quando o Norfolk Tides derrotou o Nashville Sounds por 2 a 1 no primeiro jogo de uma rodada dupla na quarta-feira no Harbor Park.
Foi a abertura da série final da temporada dos Tides, já que o jogo de terça-feira à noite foi adiado por causa da chuva. O segundo jogo estava em andamento no momento da impressão.
O arremessador titular do Norfolk, Chayce McDermott, retornou de uma lesão no ombro e lançou três entradas sem rebatidas em sua primeira ação desde 30 de julho.
Danny Coulombe, Corbin Martin e Kade Strowd (4-2) se combinaram para três entradas sem gols de alívio, enquanto Brooks Kriske permitiu a única corrida do Sounds no topo da sexta com um home run solo de Francisco Mejía.
Beavers, que terminou 1 por 3, venceu um grounder de infield para a segunda com um eliminado para seu primeiro hit Triple-A na parte inferior da sexta. Ele avançou para a terceira no single de Samuel Basallo e marcou no fly de sacrifício de Jud Fabian.
Noelberth Romero abriu a parte inferior da sétima com um single e foi para a segunda no sac bunt de Terrin Vavra. Davis encerrou com um liner afiado para o centro.
Os times estão marcados para jogar às 12:05 pm de quinta-feira para o terceiro jogo da série. O Tides anunciou que os regulares do Orioles Jordan Westburg e Ramón Urías se juntarão ao Norfolk em tarefas de reabilitação para o jogo.

W&M para abrir jogo CAA contra HU
A CAA anunciou seu cronograma de conferências de basquete feminino para 2024-25.
William & Mary abrirá sua liga recebendo os dois adversários protegidos pela CAA, contra os quais joga duas vezes por ano: Hampton em 3 de janeiro e Elon em 5 de janeiro.
A Tribo também jogará contra Northeastern, Campbell e North Carolina A&T duas vezes.
Os oponentes em casa para W&M também incluem UNC Wilmington, Towson, Charleston e Hofstra. Os adversários fora de casa incluem Stony Brook, Monmouth, Drexel e Delaware.
Pirates jogarão contra duas escolas da SEC
Hampton jogará 14 partidas em casa e enfrentará as adversárias da SEC, Georgia e Vanderbilt, durante a temporada de basquete feminino de 2024-25.
Os Pirates abrirão a temporada em 4 de novembro contra o Bowie State em casa.
Um jogo em casa contra o Norfolk State em 16 de novembro também destaca o calendário fora da conferência.
Hampton abrirá o jogo da CAA em 3 de janeiro no William & Mary. Os Pirates jogarão contra o Tribe duas vezes, junto com os adversários da CAA, North Carolina A&T, Towson, UNC Wilmington e Charleston.
Os oponentes locais de Hampton na liga também incluem Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra e Northeastern. Os adversários visitantes incluem Elon, Campbell, Stony Brook e Monmouth.
Johnson da NSU selecionado para o programa NIL Empower
A estrela do basquete feminino da Norfolk State, Diamond Johnson, participará do programa NCAA x Meta NIL Empower, anunciou a NCAA.
O programa é uma colaboração entre atletas-estudantes e a NCAA para maximizar seu nome, imagem e semelhança.
Os atletas selecionados formarão relacionamentos diretos com especialistas da Meta, fornecendo produtos e práticas comerciais ao aluno-atleta.
Johnson foi a MEAC Newcomer of the Year na temporada passada, bem como uma seleção All-MEAC first-time. Ela teve média de 20,2 pontos, 5,4 rebotes, 3,8 roubos de bola e 2,9 assistências por jogo.

NSU varre Hampton
Gabrielle Gilbert conseguiu 20 rebatidas e Sydney McCree acrescentou 37 assistências quando o Norfolk State varreu o Hampton por 3 a 0 (25-18, 25-16, 26-24) na Batalha da Baía na terça-feira à noite no Gill Gymnasium em Norfolk.
Alexa Harris contribuiu com nove rebatidas e quatro bloqueios e Adlene Jideofor teve seis rebatidas e quatro bloqueios para os Spartans (3-6).
Abena Asomani-Martin teve oito rebatidas e seis defesas, Kylah Hunter teve 10 defesas e Morgan Warren teve 10 assistências e duas rebatidas para os Pirates (0-11).

Corredores da NSU conquistam honras da MEAC
Raphael Kitur e Yvone Sandui, da Norfolk State, foram nomeados Corredores de Cross Country Masculino e Feminino da Semana da MEAC, respectivamente.
Kitur ficou em 22º no Virginia Invitational, terminando o percurso de 8k em 24:37.60. Esse é o tempo de 8k mais rápido no MEAC nesta temporada.
Sandui também ficou em 22º no Virginia Invitational, terminando em 18:18.90. Isso ajudou os Spartans a terminar em terceiro na competição por equipes.

- William & Mary anunciou a contratação de Brandon Cates como seu diretor atlético associado para assuntos comerciais. Cates foi anteriormente diretor de serviços comerciais na University of Pittsburgh e tem 18 anos de experiência em operações comerciais.
