O time descartou Addison para o jogo de domingo contra o 49ers, depois que ele perdeu seu terceiro treino da semana por causa da lesão no tornozelo direito que sofreu na semana passada contra o Giants. Treinador Kevin O’Connell disse que Addison está “indo muito bem” em sua reabilitação da lesão, mas o treinador ainda não pôde dizer se Addison poderá retornar para o jogo da Semana 3 dos Vikings contra os Texans.
Com Addison fora, os Vikings vão ativar Trishton Jackson para a lista do dia do jogo. Jackson liderou os Vikings com nove recepções para 154 jardas e um touchdown na pré-temporada, após um acampamento impressionante que o ajudou a entrar no time.
“Temos muita confiança nele”, disse O’Connell. “Ele ganhou o direito de estar aqui, sem dúvida, mas ter um cara como esse para intervir nesses momentos é muito reconfortante para nós como uma equipe ofensiva, e eu acho que para Sam [Darnold], também. Mas sem dúvida, não tendo Jordan lá, ele fez um ótimo jogo contra eles um ano atrás, algumas jogadas enormes para nós. Então, vamos ter que escolher Jordan com alguns caras em quem confiamos.”
Os 49ers descartaram o running back Cristão McCaffrey na sexta-feira por causa de problemas na panturrilha e no tendão de Aquiles que o atrapalharam por semanas. McCaffrey também perdeu a abertura de segunda-feira contra os Jets; Jordan Mason correu por 147 jardas em seu lugar. McCaffrey sentado na Semana 1 foi uma surpresa para muitos, mas a NFL disse na sexta-feira que “não encontrou nenhuma evidência de violação da política de relatórios de lesões da liga neste assunto”.
Treinador de São Francisco Kyle Shanahan disse aos repórteres que McCaffrey sentiu “mais dor” após o treino de quinta-feira e que o time está considerando colocar o running back na reserva de lesionados, o que o deixaria afastado por pelo menos quatro semanas.
Os Vikings listaram três jogadores — guarda Ed Ingramtackle direito Brian O’Neill e segurança Harrison Smith — como questionável para domingo.
