A Optum, divisão de serviços de saúde do UnitedHealth Group, sediado em Minnetonka, está demitindo cerca de 160 funcionários em Nova Jersey.
Os cortes de empregos entrarão em vigor em dezembro, de acordo com um documento regulatório divulgado esta semana, e seguem anúncios feitos no início deste ano de que a Optum eliminaria 524 empregos na Califórnia e 129 empregos em Ohio.
Os cargos que foram eliminados em outros estados tiveram que ser reportados porque se enquadravam nos requisitos estabelecidos na Lei de Notificação de Ajuste e Retreinamento de Trabalhadores (WARN).
O UnitedHealth Group não anunciou nenhum corte em Minnesota nem entrou com um aviso WARN de demissões no estado, onde a empresa emprega mais de 19.000 pessoas. A empresa se recusou a dar detalhes sobre mudanças de emprego em Minnesota.
O número global de funcionários na UnitedHealth nesta primavera foi de 400.000 pessoas.
“Revisamos continuamente as capacidades e serviços que oferecemos para atender às necessidades crescentes e em evolução de nossos negócios e das pessoas que atendemos”, disse o UnitedHealth Group em uma declaração. “Como sempre, apoiaremos os membros da equipe afetados com recursos de colocação de emprego e buscaremos implantá-los sempre que possível em quaisquer funções abertas dentro da empresa.”
A divisão Optum do UnitedHealth Group inclui um grande negócio de gestão de benefícios farmacêuticos, bem como divisões para consultoria de TI e atendimento direto ao paciente por meio de centros médicos ambulatoriais. A UnitedHealth também é dona da UnitedHealthcare, que é a maior seguradora de saúde do país.
Em julho, o presidente-executivo Andrew Witty disse aos investidores que os ganhos de eficiência ajudaram a empresa a manter sua orientação de lucros, apesar dos custos crescentes de um ataque cibernético massivo no negócio Change Healthcare da empresa. Witty não disse se os cortes de empregos foram um fator.
