Agora, os Lions (12-10-7, 43 pontos) enfrentam seu maior desafio, viajando para enfrentar o atual campeão da MLS Cup, o Columbus Crew (15-5-8, 53 pontos).

Os Lions perderam os dois últimos confrontos contra Columbus, incluindo uma eliminação por 2 a 0 nos playoffs da MLS Cup da temporada passada. Eles detêm a vantagem de todos os tempos sobre Columbus em 10-8-4, mas as partidas entre esses rivais sempre foram muito disputadas.
“Nós nos conhecemos. Já tivemos competições há pouco tempo”, disse o técnico do Orlando City, Oscar Pareja. “Sei que é um jogo novo, mas estamos tentando ser fiéis [to] o que fazemos. … Tentamos [create] maneiras de machucá-los e ver se conseguimos um resultado.”
O atacante Facundo Torres tem sido uma das chaves para o sucesso recente do Lions. O atacante uruguaio tem 4 gols nos últimos três jogos e parece mais confiante conforme a temporada avança. Um gol contra o Columbus o empataria com Cyle Larin na maior quantidade de gols marcados na história do clube, com 44.
“A Facu tem abraçado a cada dia mais [of] o que ele precisa fazer por este clube. Como pessoa, ele cresceu tremendamente”, disse Pareja. “Não é sorte. É só porque ele merece, e não só isso, mas muito mais.
“Ele está nos carregando nos ombros por longos, longos, longos períodos e é isso que ele precisa fazer. Ele tem essa personalidade, e os meninos reconhecem isso, e espero que ele continue.”
O Orlando City não poderá contar com David Brekalo (coxa direita) e Mason Stajduhar (perna direita), enquanto César Araújo (acúmulo de cartão amarelo) está suspenso.
