Os advogados de defesa de Sean “Diddy” Combs não estão pedindo ao juiz do caso de tráfico sexual do astro do rap que intervenha e o transfira da notória prisão MDC do Brooklyn.
Poucos dias depois que o juiz do Tribunal Federal de Manhattan, Andrew Carter, negou o pedido de Combs para ser libertado sob fiança de US$ 50 milhões, seus advogados, Marc Agnifilo e Teny Geragos, escreveram na segunda-feira que não solicitarão que o juiz tente realocar o rapper.
“Após a audiência no tribunal em 18 de setembro de 2024, o Tribunal ordenou uma atualização de status do advogado sobre qualquer solicitação relacionada ao local da detenção do Sr. Combs”, escreveu a equipe de defesa a Carter. “Neste momento, não há solicitação do advogado para que o Tribunal tome qualquer ação. Obrigado.”
Agnifilo disse ao Daily News na segunda-feira que a equipe jurídica de Combs está “trabalhando em estreita colaboração com os profissionais dedicados do MDC, que têm sido receptivos e prestativos”.
Na semana passada, Agnifilo disse aos repórteres que estava pedindo para que Combs fosse transferido para uma prisão no Condado de Essex, em Nova Jersey, que tem sido usada para abrigar detentos federais, descrevendo a prisão de Jersey como “um pouco menos difícil” e observando que “o MDC historicamente teve problemas tremendos, e esses problemas não foram resolvidos”.
Agnifilo disse que planeja apelar da decisão de fiança de Carter na quarta-feira.
Os juízes descreveram a prisão de Sunset Park como “bárbara” e “terrível”, e o The News relatou uma série de incidentes violentos, incluindo dois assassinatos por esfaqueamento neste ano, vários casos de maus-tratos médicos, más condições e comida não comestível.
Recentemente, a equipe da prisão ignorou amplamente os 17 chamados separados de um preso por ajuda médica, pois um tumor cancerígeno cresceu em sua perna, informou o The News. Um enfermeiro o viu três vezes entre janeiro e agosto, mas nunca percebeu que sua condição estava piorando, de acordo com os advogados de defesa.
É a segunda vez em um ano que a equipe médica da prisão ignora sinais de que um detento estava desenvolvendo câncer.
Promotores federais em Manhattan acusam Combs de transportar prostitutas através das fronteiras estaduais e forçar mulheres com quem ele namorava a fazer sexo com prostitutas durante festas sexuais regadas a drogas que ele chamava de “Freak Offs”.
Se elas não quisessem participar, ele as assediava, abusava fisicamente e assediava, e depois usava gravações incriminatórias delas como garantia, alegam promotores federais.
