Caro Eric: Meu marido e eu namoramos à distância por um ano antes de nos casarmos.
Durante esse tempo, ele me disse que tinha síndrome pós-ISRS. Depois de parar a medicação, ele ainda conseguia “ter um bom desempenho”, mas não desejava mais sexo. Ele disse que antes do ISRS sua pulsão estava boa.
Enquanto estávamos namorando, isso parecia OK porque, embora pouco frequente, ele parecia estar gostando de sexo. Então nos casamos. Depois de 11 meses sem sexo, fomos ver um terapeuta, onde descobrimos que ele realmente não gostava de fazer sexo quando estávamos namorando. Ele nunca gostou muito. Ele simplesmente não consegue mais sentir desejo.
Ele tentou drogas de aumento sexual, Wellbutrin, suplementos de ervas, terapeutas, testosterona. Nada funcionou.
Nós dois ainda estamos na casa dos 20 anos e estou indecisa sobre filhos. Nunca tinha ouvido falar dessa síndrome antes, mas depois de pesquisar, não parece tão incomum. Eu amo meu marido. Você tem algum conselho sobre como lidar com isso?

Caro Desejo: Parece que o casamento (e a terapia) deram ao seu marido conforto suficiente para parar de exibir seu prazer. Tente ver a honestidade dele como um convite para ser honesta sobre como você se sente também.

Pode parecer que as respostas para essas perguntas são óbvias, mas cada casamento é único. Sua carta demonstra empatia e disposição para aprender e se ajustar; esse é um presente maravilhoso e você pode usá-lo para criar o casamento que deseja.
Isso provavelmente é tão confuso para ele quanto para você. Ainda há muitas incógnitas sobre a síndrome do inibidor pós-seletivo da recaptação da serotonina (ISRS). Um estudo de 2023 estimou que cerca de 4 em cada 100.000 pessoas que tomaram ISRS desenvolveram disfunção sexual após tomá-los. Um estudo de 2006 colocou o número em 5% a 15%. Ele não está sozinho, mas pode sentir que está.
Do lado logístico, a síndrome pós-ISRS do seu marido não impede que ele tenha filhos. Se vocês dois decidirem tentar ter uma família, tudo o que vocês escreveram indica que ele estaria disposto e seria capaz de participar.
