Eles provaram isso novamente na terça-feira à noite com uma vitória de 8-2 sobre os D-backs no Coors Field. O Colorado venceu o Jogo 1 da série, 3-2, na segunda-feira à noite. Os Rockies ainda podem estar atropelados longe do LoDo, mas são difíceis de derrotar no Coors, onde têm um recorde de 19-12 desde 4 de julho.
A vitória foi a 535ª do técnico Bud Black, que superou Clint Hurdle e se tornou o maior vencedor da história dos Rockies.
A fórmula do Colorado na terça-feira à noite incluiu um excelente começo do destro Ryan Feltner, home runs de Ezequiel Tovar e Hunter Goodman, e rebatidas oportunas para cima e para baixo na ordem. O Colorado acertou 5 de 14 com corredores em posição de pontuação.
O Arizona entrou na noite com 8-3 em seus últimos 11 jogos contra o Rockies, e 18-6 em seus últimos 24 desde o início da temporada de 2023. Mas depois de perder duas seguidas no Coors, eles agora estão empatados com o Mets na vaga final do wild-card playoff da NL.
Feltner, com sua bola rápida zumbindo, lançou 6 1/3 innings, permitindo apenas uma corrida em cinco rebatidas. Ele eliminou apenas dois, mas teve muito contato fraco, e a defesa do Colorado o apoiou com um jogo estelar.
O segunda base Brendan Rodgers e o shortstop Tovar fizeram uma bela jogada dupla para encerrar o sexto, e o defensor central Brenton Doyle fez uma recepção no campo central para roubar bases extras de Eugenio Suarez no sétimo.
Os D-backs marcaram sua única corrida contra Feltner no quarto, combinando uma dupla inicial de Pavin Smith, um toque de sacrifício de Jake McCarthy e um groundout de Suarez.
Tovar (3 por 5, duas RBIs) continua a provar que é um dos melhores shortstops do beisebol. Ele abriu o terceiro com um home run de Jordan Montgomery para sua 25ª bola longa da temporada, a líder da equipe. Tovar também acertou 43 duplas, a maior quantidade de um shortstop na história da franquia, a segunda maior na NL e a maior quantidade de um Rockie desde que Nolan Arenado acertou 43 em 2017. O último jogador do Rockies que teve mais de 43 duplas em uma temporada foi Matt Holliday, que teve 50 em 2007.
No sétimo, Goodman, servindo como rebatedor designado em vez de catcher, acertou um solo blast de 441 pés com dois eliminados para o centro do apaziguador canhoto Blake Walston. Foi o segundo jogo consecutivo de Goodman com um home run, seu quarto na série atual e o 13º da temporada.
O Colorado conseguiu três rebatidas de Montgomery para assumir a liderança por 2 a 0 no terceiro. Michael Toglia abriu com uma dupla suave em terra de ninguém no campo direito raso e marcou na dupla de Jacob Stallings para a esquerda. Jordan Beck (2 por 3) levou Stallings com uma dupla de dois eliminados para a esquerda.
