O primeiro trailer do novo filme de supervilões da Marvel Studios foi lançado — e Utah é um personagem coadjuvante.
“Thunderbolts*” está previsto para ser lançado em 2 de maio de 2025. Ele se concentra em vários vilões de filmes anteriores do Universo Cinematográfico Marvel, convocados pela conivente Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) para formar uma equipe que realiza missões não oficiais para o governo.
Uma sequência de ação apresentada no trailer de três minutos — uma longa perseguição de carro em que veículos blindados e uma limusine são capotados — foi filmada em Utah, confirmou um porta-voz da Comissão de Cinema de Utah na segunda-feira.
O diretor Jake Schreier e a equipe filmaram a sequência do carro nos condados de Emery e Grand e arredores no verão de 2023, disse o porta-voz — acrescentando que a produção gastou cerca de US$ 7,9 milhões em Utah durante as filmagens.
A comissão de filmes anunciou a produção da Marvel em junho de 2023, embora o estúdio tenha mantido o nome “Thunderbolts” em segredo. O título provisório era “Oops All Berries”, uma referência a uma marca de cereal matinal Cap’n Crunch que não tem pedaços Cap’n Crunch e apenas pedaços com sabor de frutas vermelhas — uma alusão ao enredo do filme, só de vilões, sem super-heróis.
Na época, a comissão de cinema citou Brian Chapek, um dos produtores executivos do filme, que disse que a produção “analisou muitas opções e descobriu que Utah apresentava uma geografia tão única e impressionante que não tínhamos visto antes em um filme. Os locais de Utah que exploramos pareciam intocados pelo mundo maior, o que nos deixou muito animados para filmar lá.”
“Thunderbolts*” — ainda não há explicação para o asterisco — foi comparado aos filmes “Esquadrão Suicida” da DC Comics, que também reuniu vários vilões, principalmente a Arlequina de Margot Robbie, para missões secretas.
Três dos vilões da Marvel — Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov, também conhecido como Guardião Vermelho (David Harbour) e Antonia Dreykov, também conhecida como Treinadora (Olga Kurylenko) — foram apresentados em “Viúva Negra” de 2021. Ava Starr, também conhecida como Fantasma (Hannah John-Kamen), foi vista em “Homem-Formiga e a Vespa” em 2018. John Walker, também conhecido como Agente Americano (Wyatt Russell), um substituto do Capitão América que se tornou um rebelde, fez sua estreia na série de 2021 da Disney+ “Falcão e o Soldado Invernal”. E o próprio Soldado Invernal, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), já apareceu anteriormente em sete filmes da Marvel, começando com “Capitão América: O Primeiro Vingador” de 2011.
